I recently had a short notice booking for a camera club who had been let down by their booked speaker. I used two of my short talks, one for each half. I thought it went OK as they were both travelogs, not the usual talks for camera club. To my surprise I received the following email from the club a couple of days afterward.

"Could I first of all apologise for not being at the meeting to meet you yesterday evening, Frustratingl I could have been at the meeting after all.

However I have been speaking to our Chairperson, and she has told me how brilliant you were. She said that other members had spoken to her and said how much they had enjoyed your talk and images. So many thanks for stepping in so quickly it is much appreciated. I am looking forward to your next talk already.
